Pre-trip hikes near Lake d'Isere.
Day one.
We had 1.5 days left before flying home and we spent them at Lake d'Isere.
We rented a house in the small village of Marone. We got there about five o'clock in the evening. It was terribly hot. We didn't expect it to be so hot.

We came upon this river on the outskirts of the village.
We had a swim and headed back home.
Day two.
In the morning, while the heat wasn't unbearable, we walked around Marone and went up the to San Pietro church to see everything from above.
From here, all of Marone can be seen at the foot of the mountain, part of which has been quarried for stone.
View of the lake. Yasha left for the airport, and we went higher up into the mountains to escape from the heat. It turned out that there was a lot to see right above Marone.

These rocky formation in the gorge are called Piramidi del Zone. You can walk around this park, go down and look at the rocks. Erosion washed away the limestone and the large rocks saved the pillars from complete destruction.

But this house is inhabitable.
We got quite close to the rocky pillars. Very reminiscent of Gaudi's towers in Barcelona. Maybe he's been here too?
We drove up a country road as high up as possible and went for a walk. It is beautiful here, no crowds and not as hot as down below.

We climbed almost a kilometre up a steep forest path and got to high mountain pastures.
The lake is far down below us.
There are houses and farms scattered here and there between the mountains. The roof of the cowshed. The tiles at the roof edge are reinforced with stones.
And then we went down. We had time for another quick swim in the lake before heading for the airport.
