Three scrambles in the Lakes 3-4 September 2021

We were quite fit following the recent trip to the Caucasus, and started going for short wild camping trips pretty much every weekend. Our trips were fairly long with a significant altitude gain (this time it was 23 km and 1800 m) but our backpacks were very light, they only had a tent, sleeping bags, the stove and some food. This was a scrambling trip: we did three grade 1 scrambles which we planned to do earlier but for various reasons had to change the plans.

The end of the Dale Head scramble. Route finding was not straightforward, and we twice went in the wrong direction. We had a scrambling book with us but finding the right route was still challenging.

This was a very easy scramble, with excellent rock and lots of holds and steps.

We had to get down to Seathwaite and cross another ridge to return to our car which was parked in a lay-by not far from Honister Pass. This was a speedy return as Sonya wanted to go to a party in the evening, and we climbed the last 300 vertical meters in less than 30 min!
