The Narvik ski tour, 6-15 April 2023
Arrival and the first two days
This was our first ski tour, if you don't count the day trips in England. There were 10 of us, including our whole family (and not counting the dog). Everything was organised by Yasha and Magda. We rented a big house in Narvik and spent the first two days skiing in a ski resort to remind ourselves how to stand on skis. There weather was bad for those two days anyway. But the weather for the rest of the tour was amazingly sunny. We went skiing every day in different places, and even organised a three-day trip with two overnight stays in a hut. All in all, it turned out just like the skiing trips we used to do as students...

We flew to Narvik. This is a small town in the north of Norway, very far from civilisation.

We arrived at Bjerkvik in the evening and went to explore the surroundings. Right behind our house there was an industrial area...
...with beautiful snowy peaks above it.
On the first day we had to get skis and all the other equipment from the rental shop. For some team members it was the first ski trip of the year. The weather was warm, cloudy and grey.

The next day we went to the Riksgränsen ski resort in Sweden. The weather wasn't nice, but at least it was snowing.
We skinned up a small hill. There was no visibility and hence no pictures from this trip.

We also practised skinning up the untouched snow fields.
There was a cafe by one of the lifts where we had lunch. After two days of skiing on the slopes, we were ready for the first tour.
