Day 1. We are in the Alps!
There were ten of us in the group. Surprisingly the logistics went well, despite the fact that group members came from England in three independent groups, Sweden, Georgia, Germany and Italy. Somehow everyone made it to the meeting place at the right time! To reduce the cost of leaving the cars in the car park, we spent quite a while repacking so that two cars (out of four) could be parked in the free car park in the valley.

We repacked, had a snack, and left the cars in the car parks. The group is ready to hit the trail.
We had 750 metres to climb. The snow-capped mountains are ahead with the Forni glacier flowing into the valley.
This is the site of battles between Italy and Austria-Hungary during the First World War. The fields are still covered with rusty barbed wire.
We climbed up a good path that traversed the slope.
We turned left into the Rosole Valley and climbed onto the crest of the moraine.
Our kids are no longer kids...
A rest break.
Looking back to the valley we came from.
We camped on a flat patch near a river flowing off the glacier. This place could probably flood, but we knew there would be no rain.
The girls volunteered to do the dishes.
Enjoying the sunset while waiting for the evening concert.
Evening views.
He and his guitar.
It's so nice to spend the evening singing songs with a guitar, albeit without a fire.
Clouds were floating around. It was very quiet and beautiful. At last we were in the mountains.
