Seathwaite 2-3 July

Lova and Sonya were running Saunders mountain marathon this weekend. We dropped Sonya off in Keswick where Lova was already waiting, and drove to Seathwaite. Lova and Sonya went towards Buttermere. The weather was quite wet.

The red and blue lines show our track in the first and second days. Shift-click on the track link will open it in nakarte.me.

We stopped for lunch in the Esk valley and hid from the drizzle under a tent.

On our return to Seathwaite from Glaramara we saw lots of small tents in a large field. We realised that this was Saunders campsite (its location is kept secret).

Both Lova and Sonya are visible on this zoomed-in picture. Our car was parked only 100 m away from the entrance to the field, and the children noticed it at the end of their run.

The rain finally stopped and the clouds started rising from valleys.

We managed to get through to the campsite (only participants were formally allowed, but the organisers made an exception for us). It proved challenging to find our kids among so many people. We walked in a spiral reducing its diameter with every turn, and in the end Lova noticed us.

Sonya was still alive after a 20 km mountain run.

Even though we spent the day in adjacent valleys, our kids had much better weather than us.

Fog is no reason for not smiling.

The Lakes are enjoyable in any weather but we usually only go there if sunshine is forecast.

A smile for the shot.

Finish line.
