Day 7. Hustinden and Hermannsdalstinden.
In Lofoten, the roads often end at small villages. Then the mountains begin. We wanted to spend the night somewhere nice so we left the car by the sea and climbed up Hustinden.

There are only a dozen or so houses in this village, but it is heavily promoted and many tourists come here.

At the top of Hustinden. From here you can see the mountains on the mainland. Fortunately, the days are very long in Norway, you can walk for as long as you like, it never gets dark. We spent the night by the lake, after descending into a neighbouring valley. This place reminded us of our Lake District: grassy slopes and flocks of sheep.
It's a sunny morning. We head back to the sea through a low pass.
We are ready for new mountains.

The sea here is very wild and beautiful: white sand, big boulders, birds.
It's so nice to walk on a sandy beach.

Turns out we're parked outside a glassblowing workshop. This is where they entertain tourists and sell souvenirs.
They probably keep fishing nets here.

We stopped to take a picture of the blue sea...
... and a fishing village. There are a lot of tourists in these places.
The next item on our programme was to climb Hermannsdalstinden. We left the car at the roadside and went up a steep forest path. At the first lake we stopped for lunch.

The rocks drop straight into the water. There is a system of lakes, which are located one above the other. You climb higher and higher from lake to lake.
This whole valley is made up of pairs of little lakes, like the footprints of some animal.

By the evening we reached the upper lake and pitched our tents, then after dinner we went to catch the sunset on Hermannsdalstinden. This photo shows the two-hour climb to the top.

We're almost at our camping spot. The boulders here are really big.

We wanted to catch the sunset at the top, so we had to rush. There is a good path to the top (though we lost it near the top and had to do a bit of climbing), in some places there are fixed ropes for safety. There are a lot of people walking here.

All these lakes are at different altitudes. Our mountain casts a shadow on the sea.
Here comes the sunset - just in time! We went down at dusk, but we didn't need torches.
