Day two. Gausjosjön.
The forecast promised rain all day, and it proved correct. We put on rain jackets and trousers and went to pick mushrooms on the other side of Lake Umeälven. You can't get there by car, but there is a footpath to the other side of the lake.

We passed an old village of the Saami people Gausjosjön. They herd reindeer in the north of Sweden. Many of the houses are dugouts.
"A hut on chicken legs" with a boat stored underneath.
The dugouts seem small from the outside, but inside they are quite spacious.
It's hard to imagine living in it.

The walls of the dugout are made of small birch trunks covered with birch bark on the outside. There is a small stove and simple furniture inside.
This shed was padlocked.
