At the seaside
We got to a campsite in Cogoleto near Genoa. There were lots of Italian tourists but virtually no foreigners.
The plan was to spend a day in Genoa, but only after swimming in the sea. There was a lot rain last night, the sky was cloudy and we were the only people on the beach.
Here in Italy there is no sand on the beaches, and the water is very clear.
Portofino peninsula is in the distance. We went there next day.
We left the car in a car park in the Genoa port and spent the day walking in the city.

Strada Nuova (Via Garibaldi) is flanked by the palaces of Genoa aristocracy. This is a door of one palace.

A marble lion sculpture on Cattedrale di San Lorenzo. The lion is sitting on a pedestal made of black marble and decorated with white stones. The cathedral has red columns and the walls are coloured in black and white stripes, - an unusual sight.

Portofino peninsula
Our last day at the seaside. We drove to a little village of Camoglie, and walked to Punta Chiappa.

The black clouds were gathering, and suddenly we saw tornadoes in the sea. We have not seen anything like this before.
When we got back to Camoglie, tornadoes disappeared but it started raining. The houses look very bright with the dark clouds in the background.
Camoglie was well protected from the enemies and pirates. This used to be a fishing village, but now tourism is the only industry.
