The Narvik ski tour, 6-15 April 2023
Senja
Senja Island is located north of Narvik. On the map it looks like a palm with fingers spread out: the centre of the island is flat and the fingers are rocky. It was more than two hours' drive from us, but we didn't regret it. We were told it was like Lofoten in miniature.
There is only one bridge to get to the island. We stopped by a fjord to stretch our legs.
Luna has a visitor.
We got to the fishing village of Fjordgard and skinned up to Hesten. We got to the pass and then had to take the skis off and climb to the summit on foot: it was too steep.

Descending down to the car: the most interesting part was skiing through shallow birch wood with no ski tracks or trails.
We stopped for lunch by a fjord. There was a very beautiful view of the sea and white hills on the other side of the fjord.

On the way home we stopped to watch the sunset. The day was very long but not too tiring (except for the drivers).
