Day 5. Lake Blauseeli - Lötschental valley - Langgletscher glacier.
This was an easy day, with long descent on a good path to Fafleralp village and then ascent towards the Langgletscher glacier. We took the path just under the Anenhütte glacier. It is possible to walk near the bottom of the valley and get to the glacier this way. We were not sure whether there was a decent path there, but we then saw a guided group walking down the bottom of the valley - so there must have been a path there. We camped just a little earlier than planned, as we were stopped by the strong rain, so we hid under our tent and waited for it stop. When the rain stopped, we decided not to go on the glacier but camp on the flat rocks there and then. This did not really matter as the next day was supposed to be quite short.

The Blauseeli lake is underneath a glacier. Some relatively short time ago the glacier must been much bigger, perhaps ending near the lake. We are almost packed and ready to go

The girls are feeding little fish in a lake by the Fafleralp village. The village is very small, there is no proper shop, just the souvenirs.

The Lötschenlücke pass, our goal for tomorrow, can be seen from far down the valley (hover the mouse over the image to see the annotation). We picked a few mushrooms in the forest which made for a proper birthday party in the evening.

But we had no time to waste so just went by...
We walked on a path just below the Anenhütte and descended towards the glacier. The path was well marked. It started raining - the weather forecast proved accurate.
Decision time - shall we wait for the rain to stop, or push forward? We decided to wait. Had it not been for the rain, the views would have been amazing. But we should not complain: this was the first rain of the trip.
We sheltered under our tent until the rain stopped, and decided to camp here. Sonya is digging a channel to take the water away from the tent.

The camping place turned out OK. The path to the glacier is marked with carns.
Yasha and Lova are putting up the tent above the kitchen. This proved unnecessary as there was no rain until later in the night. But we had a birthday party under a roof!
