New York and surroundings, 23 December 2022 - 1 January 2023

New York

We spent three days in New York. All days were sunny. We were shocked by the crowds in the city centre, things were a lot quieter just a few blocks away.

We met with Victor's classmate. They live in Great Neck (Long Island). This place can't be more different from the crowded New York: green and quiet streets, large detached houses, nobody around.

We are in the Nicholas Roerich museum. It is located in a three-storey building in the north of Manhattan. It has a large collection of documents, personal belongings and of course paintings.

An old church lost among skyscrapers.	The Oculus NYС.

The Oculus NYC by the World Trade Center. It is a large transportation hub in southern Manhattan.


Paparazzi Dogman & Paparazzi Rabbitwoman sculpture (237 Park Ave).	Grand Central Terminal. The ceiling shows a large map of New York city. We have gone through the terminal many times but never had time to stop and have a look around.

We got to Brooklyn bridge just in time for the sunset. The statue of Liberty was clearly visible.

Brooklyn bridge was overcrowded at the beginning, but further up the bridge it wasn't too bad.

New Haven and Boston

Our flight back home from Boston was in the evening of 1 January, so we had a whole day to explore the city.

No 100 Summer street.

Summer street becomes Winter street after the crossing.


Boston's skyscrapers are not as tall as in New York, so old churches do not look completely dwarfed by the surrounding buildings.	Victor should pay more attention to the notice on a wall.
