Uppsala met us with heavy rain which stopped only in the evening. Our plan was to explore the city and get ready for a flight back to England. Stockholm airport is only 1 h drive from Uppsala.

We booked a very attractive hotel (Lägenhetshotell). It takes about 20 min to walk from here to the city centre.

The city is very green, large flower pots are everywhere.

Heavy rain made the paint leak from the picture on the wall.	A large collection of runes (old Germanic writings) by the museum.

Our ponchos proved very useful in Uppsala.

Very long-legged hares! They are the owners of this park, hardly noticing when people pass by.

We visited Carl Linnaeus museum, then sheltered from the rain in the Uppland County Museum until it closed. The rain eventually stopped, and the morning was bright and sunny. We got up early to look at Uppsala in good weather. We only had a couple of hours before going to the airport.

Uppsala cathedral. It is very impressive from the outside, but the interior is rather dark.

We guessed that warm water will be circulated through these pipes in winter to keep the square snow-free.

Another pedestrian bridge, Västgöta Bridge. The orange colour of begonias match the walls of the old buildings on the other side of the river. They were built in 1666.

We were walking back to our hotel along some quiet streets with 2-storey houses...

... when we spotted a matching cat house with the owner.

It would have been nice to spend more time in Uppsala in good weather but it was time to go to the airport. We really liked Uppsala, it is a beautiful old University town, very different from Stockholm (which we also liked).
